He Preserves His Foundation

"For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person's work." 1 Corinthians 3:11-13 (NIV)
In 2008, I was hired as the Executive Director of Christian Women's Job Corps of Tyler, Texas and immediately fell in love with the ministry. Within the first four months, I could sense God's call to women's ministry, yet never thought of myself as good enough or able to lead other people. I continued to say, "Lord, you don't want me for this, I'm not equipped!" Nevertheless, I continued to witness God's miraculous hand and His Spirit transforming the hearts and minds of many participants and volunteers at CWJC.
Then in 2009, God turned my family's life upside down when He decided to move us to Starkville, Mississippi. Although I didn't know anyone who lived in Mississippi . . . to my amazement, God connected me with a small group of prayer intercessors and one Associational Missions Director who had been praying (for all of two weeks!) for someone to help them start a new CWJC ministry in Northeast Mississippi. Through a Baptist Association of 66 churches, God continued working miracle after miracle, salvation after salvation through CWJC and building upon a foundation of a 20-person prayer team, multiple volunteer teams, a building (rent-free) and a lab full of computers ready to launch in January 2011. By 2012, National WMU selected our site for the "National Site Award."
My family and I returned recently to Starkville, Mississippi, and I wanted to visit the church and CWJC building. As I got out of my car, I looked into the distance in hopes of viewing the old Christian Women's Job Corps building.

Although I knew that the ministry was still in operation, the visual imagery of all the new construction and parking lots surrounding this 60 year-old, yellow brick building brought me to tears. When I saw it, I said to myself, "It still stands! Thank you, Father!" Here this building stood, while the older buildings that had previously existed on one side had been torn down. As I pondered this image, I could sense the Father saying: "What is built upon my foundation, will be preserved."
No matter what happens around us, if a foundation is built by Christ, we can stand and endure anything. Thank you, Father.
