What is the purpose of Counseling?

I believe everyone can benefit from counseling. It creates space for greater self-awareness and support in navigating life’s challenges with authenticity, clarity, and compassion. Counseling is designed to restore hope, renew purpose, and support meaningful wellness goals. It also helps clients develop healthier thought patterns, improve emotional regulation, and build effective coping mechanisms.

What concerns do you treat?

I provide counseling services for individuals, couples, and families navigating concerns such as addiction, ADD/ADHD, anxiety, depression, dysregulated stress response, low self-esteem, relational conflict, and codependency.

What can I expect?

Upon requesting an appointment, you will be invited to a complimentary 10 to 15-minute phone consultation. This initial conversation will help us understand your needs better. Once your first appointment is booked, you'll need to complete some intake paperwork to officially start your journey. Most clients find it convenient to fill out this paperwork online via our client portal, but if you prefer, hard copies are available.

What are the costs?

For a 50-minute counseling session with Amanda Thornton, some commercial insurance plans are accepted.

  • Aetna

  • BlueCross/BlueShield PPO & HMO

  • Christus Health Plan

  • HealthFirst - Access Direct

  • Medicare Plan B

  • UnitedHealthcare/UMR (Commercial plan only)

For clients unable to use insurance, there is an $80 self-pay option available. â€‹Starting August 1, 2026, the self-pay rate will increase to $85 per session. â€‹â€‹

Why do you recommend a functional nutrition consultation?

In partnership with Radiant Resilience Health, an optional 1:1 functional nutrition consultation is available for a $75 fee. This collaboration allows us to offer even more comprehensive support for your health and well-being.
