About Rhēma-Therapy
There is power in the Word and its ability to promote hope, authenticity, truth, love, and change. Rhēma-Therapy was created with the whole person in mind---integrating a biblical worldview with a holistic approach to counseling. Rhēma (pronounced hray'-mah) is a Greek word that means an utterance (individually, collectively or specifically) on a particular matter or topic. Thayer's Greek Definitions defines the word as something that has been uttered, in either the past or the present, by a living entity. The first time Rhēma is used in the New Testament is during Jesus' forty days in the wilderness. After being tempted, Jesus responds: ...It is written, 'Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word (Rhēma) that proceeds out of the mouth of God.' (Matthew 4:4, HBFV) (Source: Biblestudy.org).
Whether there's a need to explore thoughts, emotions, or behaviors, Rhēma-Therapy is a place where people can find the tools to respond to life's challenges. With a nonjudgmental environment that fosters hope and promotes wellness, each person is seen as valuable and capable of change. Like the dove holding an olive leaf in its mouth, counseling is designed to promote hope. In the Biblical account of Noah, we find Genesis 8:11, "When the dove returned to him in the evening, there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf! Then Noah knew that the water had receded from the earth." This is symbolic of the hope and peace that can be found, even in the midst of the storm.
